Celebrate Artown with a Family-Friendly Literacy and Crafts Event at Scheels
Sparks, NV, [July 3, 2024] – In celebration of Artown, and in partnership with Scheels, United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) is thrilled to announce a special event designed to bring stories to life and inspire creativity in children. This family-friendly event will take place on July 17, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Scheels Sparks, located at 1200 Scheels Drive, Sparks, NV 89434.
The event is perfect for children up to age nine and their families. Attendees will enjoy a variety of engaging activities aimed at fostering a love for reading and creativity. One of the highlights is a literacy scavenger hunt that will guide families through various literacy-themed activities. Children will be able to participate in bookmark making, creating colorful and personalized bookmarks using paper and stickers. A giant word search will also be available, providing fun for readers of all ages. Creative crafts will be a major attraction, with activities such as making magic wand reading pointers and an "Oh, The Places You’ll Go" hot air balloon craft. These hands-on activities are designed to ignite children's imaginations and encourage a lifelong love for reading.
To make the event even more exciting, the first 100 children to arrive will receive a free book. This giveaway aims to spark their imagination and foster a passion for reading. Furthermore, all participants will have the chance to win a $150 Scheels gift card by engaging in all the event activities and submitting their final “event passport” to a raffle.
The event is free and open to the public, inviting all families in the community to join in the celebration.
