Title: Early Education Manager  
Reports to:  Early Education Senior Manager and Director, Community Impact Operations

Salary Range: $45,000 to $55,000

JOB SUMMARY:   

 

The Early Education Manager supports and advances United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra’s mission (UWNNS) to link the community’s will and resources to improve lives. This position is primarily responsible for implementing the Nevada Ready! Pre-K grant that provides access to high-quality Pre-K experiences for children in northern Nevada and related education initiatives. The position works closely with the Early Education Senior Manager and requires proficiency in Excel, budgeting experience, and a solid understanding of grants. Additionally, the role recruits and engages early learning centers and community partners to deliver training and professional development, ensuring a positive experience for children, families, and staff throughout the program. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

 

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & IMPLEMENTATION 

  • Responsible for supporting the planning, management, and implementation of high-quality Early Education programs in various settings within northern Nevada. 

  • Recruits and guides early education community partners to implement the program. 

  • Provides day-to-day management of initiatives to ensure compliance and all goals are accomplished. 

  • Develops and facilitates training, coaching, and feedback sessions with directors, teachers, and staff to incorporate best practices for early education community partners. 

  • Interacts and works with early education community partners to build collaboration and improve service delivery systems. 

  • Identifies early education community partners and works in collaboration with early education staff to adapt program content and materials to meet the identified needs of participants. 

  • Provides accurate and timely data collection / input and reports to meet funding requirements in the following areas: child demographics, professional  

 

development, curriculum, program evaluation, individualized support, school readiness, transition to kindergarten, health and safety, family engagement, and comprehensive services for families. 

  • Develops and maintains a knowledge base of current policies, standards, and issues affecting the childcare and early childhood education industries, standards, and policies on the local and national levels. 

  • Oversees the maintenance of project files, reviews sub-grantee invoices for accuracy, and prepares reimbursement documents for submission. 

  • Assures that all grant and financial procedures and payments to partners comply with policies and procedures regulating United Way operations and the Sub-Grantee Agreements. 

  • Responsible for monitoring the overall program budget. 

  • Collaborates with the United Way team to ensure that all program and financial procedures are accountable to financial requirements and regulations and completed in a timely manner. 

  • Establishes and builds relationships within all areas of care affecting young children and their families in northern Nevada. 

 

COMMUNITY IMPACT 

  • Commitment to understand the full span of UWNNS Community Impact programming activities. 

  • Works with the Community Leadership and UWNNS team in the development of strategic plan and outcomes of UWNNS program. 

  • Collaborate with UWNNS Team to design, implement, and advocate for UWNNS initiatives. 

  • Represent UWNNS on local and state committees and task forces, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience with high-quality Pre-K programs, creative curriculum, and teaching strategies gold assessments is preferred. 

  • Ability to work and engage with early education providers, local/state government, and community partners. 

  • Working knowledge of early childhood education and childcare standards. 

  • Strong analytical skills, project management, and process improvement experience. 

  • Ability to build strong, productive relationships and motivate individuals to obtain results with diverse groups at all levels, both internally and externally. 

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental laws and regulations. 

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with exceptional written/oral communication and presentation skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to tactfully handle stressful situations, negotiate and resolve conflicts, maintain confidentiality, and respect and observe organizational protocol. 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed. 

  • Well-organized, efficient, detail-oriented, and able to meet critical deadlines. 

  • Courteous and professional manner. 

  • Experience in working with diverse populations. 

  • Have a reliable vehicle; possess a current Nevada driver’s license and auto insurance. Ability to travel to work in a variety of locations throughout northern Nevada and other parts of the state, as needed. 

  • Demonstrated ability to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in early education or a related field including Family Studies, Human Services, etc. is preferred. 

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: 

  • 3+ years of experience in an early childhood setting. 

  • 1+ years of program management experience.  

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:   

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for up to 3.5 hours; have the use of both hands; ability to reach with both hands and arms; to speak clearly and hear callers when answering the phone. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk throughout the office to perform office duties.  The employee must occasionally lift, carry and/or push up to 25 pounds (e.g. packing campaign materials).  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Director of Development leads the day-to-day operations in the United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra’s efforts to fundraise and build relationships that advance its mission. This role focuses on cultivating donor relationships, managing corporate partnerships, and driving the processes of philanthropic engagement. The Director is a key member of the Resource Development and Marketing team and serves as the primary facilitator of United Way’s fundraising efforts. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Resource Development: 

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors to meet and exceed revenue goals. 

  • Oversee the management of workplace campaigns, developing strategies to improve engagement and participation. 

  • Collaborate with the Community Impact and Marketing teams to craft compelling messaging and donor-centric content. 

  • Ensure accurate and timely donor recognition and reporting. 

  • Oversee the grant development process, including research, application, reporting, and compliance, with support from the Grant-Writing team. 

Community Impact: 

  • Work cross-functionally with the Community Impact team to align fundraising/engagement efforts with programmatic needs. 

  • Communicate the outcomes and impact of UWNNS programs to donors and stakeholders, emphasizing the organization’s role in creating measurable change. 

  • Utilize data and research to demonstrate UWNNS’s impact and support case-making for fundraising initiatives. 

Community Engagement: 

  • Represent UWNNS at corporate events, meetings, and public engagements to enhance visibility and promote partnerships. 

  • Build relationships with community leaders, corporate partners, and civic organizations to increase engagement with UWNNS. 

  • Develop and execute innovative corporate volunteer opportunities that connect businesses with UWNNS’s mission. 

  • Serve as a spokesperson for UWNNS in fundraising and engagement efforts, effectively articulating the organization’s mission and vision. 

Leadership & Team Collaboration: 

  • Work closely with the Senior Vice President, Marketing & Development, and other team members to ensure alignment between fundraising, marketing, and programmatic strategies. 

  • Collaborate with the Grant-Writing team to ensure alignment between fundraising activities and budgetary needs. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business Administration, Communications, Public Administration or a related field. 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of five years in fundraising, sales or related field. 

  • Two years in a management or supervisory role preferred.  

  • Proven track record in meeting fundraising or sales goals. 

  • Experience in grant writing/proposal creation, donor stewardship/account management, and corporate partnerships. 

Skills: 

  • Ability and willingness to make the ask. 

  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building abilities. 

  • Strong strategic thinking and procedural skills, with the ability to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals. 

  • Proficiency in donor database management (e.g., CRM systems). 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and presentations. 

  • Strong project management and organizational skills. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively manage a diverse team.

  • Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance to travel as needed. 

  • Ability to work evenings or weekends for events and campaigns as required.
