FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) Opens Davis Fire Emergency Assistance Fund Grant Application

Reno, NV, September 19, 2024 – United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) is now accepting applications for its Davis Fire Emergency Assistance Fund. The fund provides financial support to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits and government-recognized entities responding to the impacts of the Davis Fire in Washoe County. The application process focuses on addressing immediate and short-term needs through programmatic and operational funding.

Quote from Blake Pang, CEO of UWNNS:
“Our Emergency Assistance Fund is structured to support nonprofits and government-affiliated agencies because they are equipped to manage client cases and ensure the legitimate need for assistance. Initially, we are focusing on reimbursing or funding organizations directly involved in immediate and short-term response efforts. Once we have addressed these needs, any remaining funds will go towards long-term recovery and unmet needs to help rebuild and stabilize the community.”

Application Details:

  • Eligibility: Open to 501(c)(3) nonprofits and state-recognized entities in Nevada.

  • Application Requirements: Organizations need to provide contact details, describe the specific needs or services they provided, and outline how the requested funds will be used. They must submit their 501(c)(3) status or government affiliation and agree to reporting requirements if granted funds.

  • Process: Applications will be reviewed promptly by a committee of community volunteers to ensure a swift response to the needs of those affected.
