Applications for individuals & families affected by the fire with unmet needs, such as home repairs, rental assistance, utility assistance, medical care, etc., are being accepted. To ensure that assistance reaches those with the greatest needs, UWNNS partnered with the American Red Cross and Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada (CCNN) using a strategic response, relief, and recovery model:

  • Response: The Red Cross evaluates individuals, provides initial support, and refers cases to CCNN if additional aid is needed.

  • Relief: CCNN prioritizes urgent needs and applies for funding from UWNNS on behalf of individuals for longer term sustainability supports.

  • Recovery: UWNNS convenes its volunteer board to review these applications and provides support for critical needs, including rent, utilities, and medical care through agencies that apply on the clients behalf, such as CCNN.

Currently, six households are navigating this support process. UWNNS is thoroughly evaluating each situation to ensure funds address the most pressing needs and support a sustainable recovery for each household.
