Congratulations to our new Board Chair Mary Devine, who was recently appointed as the Director of Nevada Department of Veterans Services
“Col. Devine has been an amazing leader for United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra over these last few years,” said Blake Pang, CEO of United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra. “She has chaired our Community Impact Committee, which directs United Way’s strategic investments and oversees funds used to support programming related to our mission. During this time, she led efforts to launch United Readers, the region’s most successful literacy intervention program, as well as Nevada Ready! Pre-K, which helps low-income families access free high-quality early learning to prepare children for Kindergarten. Her leadership in this area has been transformational and I am so excited to have her take over as the overall leader of our Board of Directors.”
Devine most recently served as the Chief of Staff to the Adjutant General, serving directly under Maj. Gen.Ondra Berry. Prior to that role, Devine served as the Nevada National Guard’s ninth U.S. Property and Fiscal Officer for six years, overseeing nearly $1 billion in federal assets. Devine also served as a Brigade Commander in the 991st Aviation Troop Command and as a Battalion Commander in the 422nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion.
Mary's exceptional achievements are matched by her vibrant energy and dedication to strengthening families in Northern Nevada. We are proud to have her on our board, and eagerly anticipate the impact she will continue to make in moving our mission forward.
