We are excited to announce the next investment United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) is making to improve outcomes for our region’s youngest learners. Through a partnership with the Nevada Department of Education and United Way of Southern Nevada, we will implement Nevada Ready! State Pre-K classrooms in private early education centers in northern Nevada. Through this program, UWNNS will provide up to 163 children with high-quality Pre-K who otherwise would not have access. We will focus on implementing this program in our rural communities in northwestern Nevada.
We know the importance of Pre-K as a foundational time that prepares children for kindergarten and sets the tone for all future learning. The Nevada Ready! State Pre-K program elevates our investment in our youngest learners and aligns with efforts to increase the number of children reading at grade level. Each participating center will offer a select number of seats to eligible four-year-old children at no cost to their families.
